WOYWW - Getting settled in..

Happy WOYWW!  http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

This past weekend, my husband and I packed up all our belongings (ie, crap) and moved into our new house!  Chase's parents came up to help over the weekend, our community group cam over to help unpack on Sunday, and my mom and aunt came to help us get to a "livable" state of settled in Monday and Tuesday. I pushed it a little too hard and got a summer cold.  Luckily we hired professionals for the big stuff or we'd be even more exhausted.

Moving truck!  Well worth the money to hire professionals to move the big stuff.

Here's my new craft space - complete with chinchilla (and soon a guinea pig too).  Hopefully over the next week or two I can get it squared away enough to start crafting.

Questions for the lovely WOYWWers:

-What color should I paint this room?  I was thinking a green - maybe sage green?  I was voting for a lime green, but my husband says that's too bold.  I also like pale blue.   The rest of my house is a neutral sort of yellow - lots of red furniture.   Maybe sage green walls with red accents... All I know is..it's certainly not staying white!
-Window treatment ideas?  Anyone got any clever ideas for them?

Thanks for stopping by!

*Edit*  Here's the latest addition to our family!  Don't know what we'll name him yet...maybe Panda-piggy.  He's from a local pet store that is closing.  He's an older fellow so he didn't find a new home quickly after he was dumped at the shop.  Since they are closing, the owner asked me to take this little fellow.  She's still working hard to place the rest of the critters.  I might take one more male guinea pig if she doesn't sell them all.

Looks like a very nice craft space you'll have there! No help from me for decorating ideas. I'd probably go with the blue but that's just me. If you like the sage green, go for it! ~ Sandy #145

How lovely to have moved in and now have the choice of how to decorate the room. I've go for something cheerful enough, but not overpowering so you don't get fed up with it. Thanks for sharing your workspace. Hope you have a good week. Hazel WOYWW #87 x

Hi Katie Great new space ! When I was reserach colours, I found out that green is used by restaurants that don't want their customers to stay too long ! It is the colour which promotes people to come & go quickly - so maybe it would make you restless & not happy to linger there ! Maybe the pale blue - or duck egg blue would give you a backdrop that you could jazz up with various accent colours as the mood took you !! Have a happy crafty week ! Ali #39

Hi Katie Storage, Storage, Storage then colour! A colour you love. I recommend you join Pinterest - there are some fab storage ideas out there. I picked up a ton and I had only joined 5 minutes. Have fun. Look forward to seeing the results. Hugs from Helen 107

that's going to be a great crafty space when you;re sorted! I'd keep it light and airy, was going top suggest yellow then read that the rest of your home is yellow lol!!

Think you should call your new addition 'Spot' just to be contrary!

Happy woyww

Get a little pot of the color you love and paint it on a big bit of mdf or a canvas. Put it on your wall for a bit, to see if you love the color. That guinea pig found himself a wonderful new home with you lucky little guy. Glad you are all moved in love the space you have there. Enjoy, Have a great week. sandy :)

I think sage green would be gorgeous, with off-white for the trim. :) I have an accent wall that color in my office at work and it's very soothing. Happy WOYWW and happy new house and new crafting space! ~ Laura #127 (Thanks for popping over to my blog already.)

How about a greenish blue? Like Tiffany box but lighter maybe...then if you put any red furniture in there it will really pop against the walls, but so will white for that matter. Anyways, happy for you, all moved and with a new crafting space!

Glad the move went ok!!

If you're not changing the floor colour, then blue is firm choice for me. I think sage green with the wooden floor would be too dark. You could always jazz it up with a really colourful blind and cushions!

Love your new guinea pig - they're such characters, aren't they??

He's a cutie pie isn't he!! Glad the move went well, totally agree about using professionals, life's too short for that kind of stress. If you ever fancy an ATC or tag swap, please drop me a line as I'm always keen to exchange art with other eager crafters x

What a sweet guinea pig. I want one but I want a new cat too (to play with the young one since she pesters the old ones to play-she's the one that shows up in my posts all the time) so I'll have to plan those battles accordingly. I'm not a fan of pale blue. It is like you wanted color but were afraid of color. I vote green! Any shade. It will go well with the yellow. Oh, I change my mind on the any shade. THINK about that shade first. I painted my office wall a light avocado green-like avocado mixed with sour cream just before you add in the spices to make it into awesome guacamole and it makes me hungry all the time. Smart thinking to hire professions to move the big stuff. We did that once--after we moved most of the big stuff and ran out of steam. We should have saved ALL the big stuff. It would have cost the same.

Oh lovely cute guinea, hope he squeaks with happiness in his and your new home! Happy new home! it is hard work isn't it. Have no advice at all, except keep the window as naked as possible to benefit from all that lovely light. But you knew I was going to state teh obvious, huh!

As long as it is a color you like it really doesn't matter. All my rooms are brightly painted, my studio is orange and red. With a black and white floor. Well it is now sorted paint spotted floor. Color is invigorating.
