Painting attempts

I made George email me some of his favorite bird pictures. haha...the pictures are AMAZING, but my paintings still need some work!

I didn't get the shape right on either bird..and missed the depth in both paintings. Oh well! I'll try again :)

The rest of the AR adventure

To keep me company on the long drive, Santana accompanied me. Megann met us at the cabin and we had a little sleepover.

So none of us slept very well.... Megann and I woke up hot...so we turned the AC on. The noise of the AC woke Santana up, so she turned it off and opened the windows. By that point it was about 4 AM. I think the other two managed to fall asleep, but I lay staring at the clock thinking about how quickly time passes and change occurs. Finally at 6, I decide it's ridiculous to sit there and try to sleep, which is obviosly evading me completely. BUT coffee isn't ready at the main lodge until 7:15...so I tried again to sleep. At 8 we get up and eat the delicious home cooked breakfast that is part of the stay in these little cabins. I guess it was worth it for the breakfast :)

However, I'm exhausted now...completely and 100% worn out. I'm wondering if 6:30 is a reasonable time to go to bed...because I am pretty sure I could easily fall asleep now. I was feeling pretty grumpy earlier. I was feeling lonely and thinking about all the things i have to do this week and the fact that I accidentally locked myself out of my online banking, and it just put me in a feeling-sorry-for-myself mood. However, I sat down with a bowl of cereal and looked outside to see the damage done on my bird feeders while away... and look who made an appearance! I'm pretty sure this a Baltimore Oriole! I had oranges out for him all of last week, but i threw them out before heading back to AR. I put some more oranges out with some grape jelly in hopes he'll come back with friends. Seeing him cheered me up quite a bit. I'm still exhausted, but seeing a pretty bird like this makes it a little better. Hahaha....the birds have almost emptied the finch sock and have eaten all of the suet. I'll have to get some more this week!

Also, grades were posted...well at least the last remaining unknown grade was posted...my last semester of anatomy.

****drumroll please****

Epidemiology - A (yay for math!)

Repro Phys - B

Immunology - B

ANATOMY = B!!! B as BOO YAH!

I can't believe I made a B!!!! It's the icing on cake! I was happy enough just knowing I NEVER have to take first year anatomy again!

I wish you all a happy mother's day and a good week!

Congrats Brooke

So my good friend Brooke graduated yesterday! I'm so proud of her! She started out as as city girl who LOVED horses, but never had the opportunity to be around them. Nobody ever thought should would make it in the horse world...the horse industry is very hard to get into if you're not born into it...or at least born with a lot of money. However, through a single opportunity at the UA, she landed an internship taking care of Linda's horses. She cared for, trained, and rode the horses. She faced many setbacks such as getting (unjustly) kicked out of the barn that taught riding lessons. However, though hard work and perseverance her skills grew and she made it. Way to go for following your dreams and not letting anyone hold you back!

unfortunately, none of my pictures at the ceremony turned out. So this is all I got!

Linda gave Brooke, Rio - the horse Brooke rode. I was so happy! She really deserves that horse!

Then we blindfolded her....

and set her loose on a pinata to end the celebration!

St. Louis Adventure

Pictures from the restaurant:

The only picture of the 4 of us from the concert. The person shooting wasn't able to focus the camera :(

I snuck a picture of the concert.

We had a blast! Our seats got upgraded. We were literally as far as you could get from the stage, and a worker there moved us to the lower level 11 rows from the stage! It was awesome!!

My Oasis (ok...I should be studying)

Hey look! I scrapped something! (Credits: Woodland Winter by Dani Mogstad at the Sweete Shoppe).

My wildflowers are growing well! I thought I had spread out the seeds better...but apparently not

Look who came to join me today as I sat on the porch. Mr. Hummer ignored my presence on the back deck and drank his fill. He's such a pretty little guy.

I'm still trying to work up the energy to put in that last effort to get Bs in Anatomy and Immuno. I'm fairly confident I'll get it in immuno, but anatomy maybe be more difficult. I may work really hard and still not make it...then I'll wonder what the effort was for. I can make a 36 in either class and get a C.

First Year Veterinary Medicine

So why are vets so expensive? ...

This is one year of vet school books....The average text book costs $150... Notice the pathologic basis of veterinary disease book. It literally weighs over 15 pounds. I weighed it!

Two of my finals were today, and both went reasonably well. I made a B and an A in Repro and Epidemiology, respectively. So that's not to shabby. So far this semester has been happier than last semester, and it's not just because of grades.

I wish you could absorb information by transfusion or upload it like you sync an ipod.

I've really enjoyed watching the birds at my feeder lately. One reason I like watching them so much is they are so unconcerned about grades and planning weddings etc. They just go about their business, happy as can be. The other main reason I enjoy watching them is they remind me of my family, who I probably won't get to see for another month. It also gives me something to talk about with them...not that we have nothing to talk about. I feel like I talk to much about my school, but it's really hard not to. Besides we're covering avian anatomy now, and I think it's really cool! Birds are so weird. Haha, I hope I don't bore too many people with my rambling about their physiology and anatomy.

I wish Chase was here so he could watch the birds with me. He would like it too. 2 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days until we tie the knot! Hooray!

Need a Pair of binoculars....

What is this? Orchard Oriole? He was too skinny and dark to be a Robin

Mystery bird...

As I was looking at mystery bird (maybe Orchard Oriole), look who showed up to pose for a picture! It's Mr. Ruby Throated Hummingbird paying a visit :)

Discovered!

Look who found my birdfeeders today! Gold Finches! They are pretty little birds...hey and maybe they'll tell their friends about the new bird feeders on the block. No body has tried my suet feeder yet, but maybe they will soon. The hummers are bickering over my little humming bird feeder.

Gary doesn't care about my feathered vistitors or about my upcoming finals...

Speaking of finals, I'm trying to put in that last push to try to get good grades. However, the a good part of me wonders what's the point of stressing myself out for good grades. What's wrong with Bs and Cs? A 40% on my finals (in every class) earns a C. In 3 of my classes I just need in the 60 range to get a B. So I should just be happy with my Bs and Cs... and not kill myself over the A. Right?

Order restored to my little universe

Santana and Danny went to church with me today. The message was about how do you view God. I guess the main point was just that we should be happy to be considered God's children...which we are unworthy to be.

So operation de-slob the apartment was a success, and order has been restored to my little universe. Almost....I'll have to talk about the AC with my apartment manager tomorrow. It's doing the drip a bunch and saturate the laundry room floor (and back wall) thing again. I'm freaking out about mold. See what putting these ideas in my head does? Now i'm going to worry about it. bah. Oh well. I'll get it taken care of tomorrow. Meanwhile...I'll have to move Gary's food out..and my vacuum too. *sigh*

It's nice to have a clean environment.

Freshly vacuumed carpet! Hooray! Dust free shelves and TV! Hooray!

Fresh linens! Hooray! Did you notice the progress of my new quilt? 2 rows finished! And all my lines almost lined up :) Hooray!

Gary doesn't mind it either. He just likes having a place to lay. He needs a buddy to snuggle with.

No dirty dishes! Hooray! Freshly mopped floor! Hooray! Freshly cleaned out microwave! Hooray! A dirty microwave is a pet peeve of mine. Clean counters! Hooray! Clean rug! Hooray!

So life is good except for rapidly approaching finals and my leaky AC.
