ATCs by others

Here are some of the ATCs I've received from ATCsforALL trades and stuff ^_^

The top left is by PlatinumHoney21.
The top right is by RobbyGirl.
The bottom two are by SueatBWP.

I'll post some more that I've recieved as I get permission from the artists! I've recieved about a dozen cards now and I really enjoy flipping through my collection ^_^ One of the reasons I love trading ATCs is because it feels like a connection to people. Art is a very personal thing, and it takes courage to share your art. Everyone has their own experiences, tastes, and techiniques ...but all the cards are a beautiful expression of the personality of the artists.

It's great fun!

The last of my ATCs

These are playing around with marker and colored pencils ^_^

This is a little fairy ^_^

In other news, I had a nice weekend. I got to see Chase, and we got a lot done: had Zales clean my ring, updated the Target registry, found my name on the sidewalk, ate out 3 times, and went looking for birds ^_^ I was so happy to be able to see him!

Now I have to pretend to be interested in school, but I'm not...and pretending isn't working!

An Odd Mood...

Yesterday I was able to finish some cards ^_^ I've decided I'm not very good with humans as a paint subject.

These are for a mermaid themed swap that I haven't signed up for yet...guess I might as well now.

5 letter word swap: "Share"

5 letter word swap: "Angel"

In other news, I can't make up my mind if I should go to F-ville or not. My common sense says I need to rest, save money, and study. But....I really want to see Chase. It's quite a conundrum! Why does UA have to be so far away?

Rearrangement and Phobias

I decided this past weekend to rearrange my room...nothing too drastic. I think it flows better now ^_^

I flipped my bed and switched my two desks. I gave me more open space in the center of the room.

Computer and print station. I moved the calender and bulletin board to the closet, and put up this picture who was painted by a friend ^_^ Bulletin boards are just asking for cutter!

Study space. This is where I'm sitting now ^_^ It's a nice tall desk with plenty of space to write. I added the picture from last Thanksgiving so it doesn't feel so lonely sitting at my desk.

I also hung some pictures in the common room. The tree painting (by the same friend mentioned above) will probably be moved to the master bedroom. Haha, a friend is donating her queen bed to us (b/c they are upgrading to a king). So now we can leave the red room as a guest bedroom/work space!

In other news, I've found myself growing paranoid about random things....like spiders. Last week, I kept finding spiders everywhere. 2 in the shower...2 in the kitchen...and 1 staring at me on my pillow!!!! I'm not sure the last one on my pillow was real or not...because when I turned on the light and tore apart my bed looking for the critter, I found nothing. This was also motivation for rearranging my room...b/c it gave me opportunity to vacuum under everything and check the corners.

The second phobia..is forming a blood clot. This may perhaps be a ludicrous phobia for a healthy twenty something year old, but one of the medications I'm on has caused clots in hundreds of otherwise healthy individuals. If you google this drug, all that comes up is all the websites of lawyers trying to "help" people who've formed clots from it (which is quite irritating, b/c all of their information is clearly skewed and lacks proper references) Of course it doesn't help that we covered distubances in hemostasis and circulation in depth with graphic images in Pathology. Sometimes she couldn't find animal pictures...so she used human organs (like the brain of a stroke patient). I wish I could see inside my body (humans aren't that different from animals right?)...or do health checks like my computer does. "All organ systems are functioning normally today. 2 recommended updates. Your battery life only has 10% remaining - recommend rest or coffee. Total hard drive capacity remaining 30%" I'm thinking about calling my doctor today and seeing what she thinks (to talk me out of this madness or switches meds). With all that being said, it really is remarkable how the body is able to heal. It's really quite amazing!

Whoops

This is a card Kodii made for me (in trade for the Chi-weenie card). I realy like the colors ^_^

Today I realized (much to my displeasure) that I outright forgot to take my Immuno quiz. I normally take it in the morning before class, but I was busy studying for another class. I meant to take it in the evening, but forgot. I guess I know which one of quizzes is being dropped! I think I'm more embarrassed that I forgot than upset about the grade. Oh well. Life goes on.

I'm officially 100% sick of going to class. I'm ready for summer break... I guess it's good this semester is relatively "light" (ie no anatomy), and there's at least 1 course that I really like - Pathology. The teachers are very organized and give clear lectures. Furthermore, the Path professors test over what was taught in class! I really like it ^_^

1 month and a couple of weeks until the wedding! I can't wait for Chase's company here!

In other news after eating Carrot Cake for most meals (as the main course with sides of yogurt, pretzels, and mac and cheese) f0r a couple of days, I finally made it to Wal-mart for more food. 0nce again, I bought vegetables and fresh fruit in hopes I can eat it before it all goes bad! I wish I could order single serving size fresh produce from the internet and have it delivered once a week. Nothing makes me more angry than having to throw out food b/c I couldn't finish it by myself! On the menu for this week is Pad Thai (recipe on side bar), mushrooms, grapes, bananas, and strawberries. I've thrown out an almost full bag of mushrooms at least 3 times, but I bought them again anyway. Frozen bananas are stacking up in my freezer. I also need to eat the 2 potatoes I bought last week before they grow sprouts ^_^

A Craft Room (aka...I don't want to study now)

Someday (over the rainbow)..I'd like to have a craft room. I figure its the only way to keep the rest of my house tidy. Most craft rooms I've seen though just look so disorderly they make me cringe. Haha...I don't think I could work very well if i felt trapped under a mountain of clutter! I love clean, well lit spaces for crafting. Every tool must have its place! ^_^

This is my favorite..except I'd want a regular high desk with more space on top..and more light! But everything has it's place. I think a table like in the second picture would be better. After all, I don't always want to do crafts by myself! AND add a small TV and dvd player in the corner, brighten up the walls and add some actual artwork. Also, I'd like a space for a drafting table (and maybe my humongous easel).

This one is nice too. I like the look of everything being behind glass or in a cabinet, but honestly this is probably easier to maintain. It has a table with multiple chairs which I think is good too!. I don't like shelves that are that close to the ceiling. If you're going to have shelves, the should be within easy reach and store practical stuff. I think it's better to keep pictures and decorations on the walls...less shelves to dust and less junk to move around to dust them! A counter top would be nice though... esp one with shelves and cabinets underneath.

Ok...that's enough random babble about craft rooms. Unfortunately, genomics with it's incredibly boring "history of PCR machines" lecture calls. :(

Critter painting rampage

This has been a rather stressful week...with close calls for George, Luigi, and Papa! Keep all 3 of them in your prayers. All are on their way to recovery, but gave us quite a scare in all cases!

I went on a painting rampage yesterday and painted a bunch of critters.

These were supposed to be for a big eyed critter themed swap (so yes the eyes are all wrong on purpose), but I don't think I can give them up. I'll have to try painting someone else's dogs or some other critters for the swap (if I choose to partcipate). I think Baily and Rusty (who looks completely guilty) are my favorites. Luigi was super hard to paint, and Haley looks like an alien.

Snails and a catepillar.

Blue Crowned Conures for a personalized trade and a PIF ^_^

And now I'm letting my creativity recharge by taking a break from painting (as long as i can stand it). I also need to study for my bazillion upcoming exams.

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend didn't enitirely go as planned, but we still had a really nice time on Saturday.

We saw some cool birds (Sandhill Cranes)

Explored some wetlands.

and relaxed at the winery.

Overall, a good day.

Sunday my parents left early to check on Luigi and George. Both are now doing much better, but they had us pretty worried!

Peace and love!

Look What Came in the Mail!!!

My first returns from ATC trades :)

This little cutie came all the way from the United Kingdom and was made for me by TattieKite on the ATCsforALL forums :)

These I traded for, and I think they are even better in person. KayakChickee made them www.kayakchickee.blogspot.com.

I really love all 4 cards I got today! They really made a bad day better!

Pray for Little Luigi

We've had Luigi for a while now, and just this weekend he became suddenly ill. We still don't know what exactly is wrong with him. His spleen is HUGE...so huge that it is displacing his other organs. He's lethargic, anorexic, and guards his abdomen. He's on a couple of broad spectrum antbiotics, pain meds, and anti-nausea meds. I'm hoping and praying that he gets better, because he's so important to my family and me. He's just such a sweet fellow, it breaks my heart to think we might loose him so soon!

Please remember him today in you thoughts and prayers.
